We carried out our weekly re-ranking of directory listings this morning. We have tweaked this now so that priority is longer given to travel listings or Dominas with pay sites. This introduces a simplified system whereby all Dominas are ranked alphabetically unless they purchase a priority placement.

Regular visitors to the site will have noticed that we've been playing around with our free galleries pages recently. We feel it's good to shake these things up every now and again.

One of the complaints we've received is that we tend to repeat galleries too often. To address this, we're altering the gallery mix so that those galleries that used to come round seemingly every day will now no longer appear more than once every 28 days on average.

The free video galleries have been temporarily dropped, but we hope to bring them back this week. The problem we have with them is that it's more time-consuming for us to create attractive thumbnails for video clips than for photos. To get around this, we'll probably create a random video galleries feature as we have for photo galleries.

Since our announcement on Friday advising that we have decided to close our Pandemos free sites feature we have had several emails from Dominas asking if they could pay to retain their sites. We had been reluctant to go down this road as past experience suggests it might not be that popular, plus we didn't want to give the impression that we were somehow trying to force people to pay.

However it's now apparent that there are a number of you out there who do either depend on your Pandemos site, or who see some added value in keeping it. As a result we have decided that we will continue to offer sites to Dominas, but for a fee as suggested.

The feedback you've given me suggests that those of You who want to pay would be willing to pay around $10/£6.50 per month. That's fine, but as we;re not really set up to, say, take credit cards it's quite awkward for us to administer monthly payments. Instead, we're going to make this feature available for an ANNUAL fee of $60/£40.

We also want to take into consideration the fact that Pandemos sites don't allow the flexibility for you to edit the site yourself, which we admit is a handicap. So to balance this out, we'll also offer the following as part of the deal:

1. Guaranteed 48-hour turn-around on site edit requests.
2. Removal of banner ads from the sites, or substitution for banners of your choice.
3. Just one link back to Pandemos, rather than the menu bar, phoneline ads etc.
4. We'll also give an undertaking to explore possible new layouts.

As an introductory offer any site paid for by the end of April will run until 31st August 2011 and any site paid for by the end of May will run until 30th June 2011.

We have decided to withdraw support for Dominas' Pandemos free sites. Poor advertising revenues versus the time required to create and maintain sites mean that this side of the business is no longer viable. With immediate effect we will no longer accept requests for new free sites or edits to existing sites. All such sites will be deleted on Monday, 31st May 2010.

Dominas who don't have a site other than their Pandemos one are advised to make alternative arrangements as soon as possible. Any directory listings where a Pandemos site is the primary link will also be deleted on 31st May.

We are sometimes asked by Dominas if they can be re-listed so as to get back on the first page of the directory. It may be that they just want a quick traffic boost, draw attention to a re-designed website or some other reason.

We are now happy to announce that we will do this for a flat fee of just £10/$15.

Once payment is received, we'll copy your listing back to the top of the first page of the directory. Please note that we can't guarantee how long it will remain there for though. Genuinely new listings will always take priority. However, you can re-list as often as you wish.

Payment can be accepted via Paypal, ePassporte, Amazon US and UK gift certificates and, if you're in the UK, by cheque, standing order, bank transfer, band deposit or concealed cash in the post.

We've implemented some more changes to the layout. As you can see, the right-hand menu and advertising bar has been deleted. This means that we can no longer carry free local or sponsor text ads, but it does give us a cleaner layout and should increase click-thrus to Dominas' websites and banner advertisers.

One other result of this change is that we can now carry longer text descriptions in Dominas' listings. The character limit has therefore been increased from 300 to 550, including spaces. In addition, you can now have links to up to five external websites in your listing (six if you have a Pandemos free site).

Yesterday, I introduced some changes to the points system which determines rankings in the directory listings and influences Domina of the Day. The main points of the changes are as follows:

1. Greater recognition for Dominas who support Pandemos, either financially, by setting up a Pandemos free site or in other ways.

2. Points are now given to Dominas who link to Pandemos from their main website. Double-points are given if the link is on your front page. At present, all sites are presumed to be linking back but i'll gradually review this over the next few months and remove points from any sites that aren't.

3. Extra points are now given if you provide information for our tribute survey.

4. Twitter is no longer an element in the calculations.

You can now list a sub-location alongside the main location in your directory entry. This is aimed at Dominas in cities who wish to be more specific as to their location. For example, if you're in New York, you might want to specify 'Manhattan' as a sub-location, or if in London you could specify 'Chelsea'.

If you've noticed the site running slowly in recent days it's because a bunch of Asian Fusker-style sites have been trying to rip all the images off the site and putting the server under extreme load. We've pretty much managed to negate their efforts now and things should be running normally again, but drop us a line if you're still experiencing any problems.

We have today made some changes to the way in which banners are displayed on the front page of the site.

Up until now, anyone who puchased banner advertising received a free fixed banner placement on the front page. Unfortunately, this has now become a victim of its own success, with the front page growing in size to over 3MB and using over 12GB bandwidth a day!

To address this we have replaced all the fixed spots with four that display the banners randomly. While this reduces the number of times your banner is displayed, the smaller number of spots makes them more likely to be clicked on, so the net effect is that there should be no diffrence in traffic received.

We are also aware that some customers use these spots for the SEO value in having a permanent hardlink from Pandemos to their sites. So that this isn't disrupted, all advertisers have also been given a text link on the page, which should serve this purpose better than the banner.

The rankings are not designed to convey to the public the idea that any Domina is 'better' than another in any way.

We have today introduced some changes to our Domina of the Day feature. Up until now, the DOTD has been posted to the blog and Yahoo! group. As the blog was somewhat underused, a separate DOTD section has been added to the site here.

This contains a list of the previous month's winners, together with month-by-month listings since DOTD was introduced at the start of the year.

In addition, the DOTD will now have Her photo and listing description/links posted to the front page of Pandemos at http://pandemos.net
